The White Strand
The White Strand
Every sea coast in Ireland can boost a "White Strand". The one I've depicted many times is locally known as Renvyle Beach.
It is a quiet long expanse of fine sand, surrounded by magnificent views of the Connemara mountains. Less frequented than other beaches in the area, Renvyle Beach is a lovely secluded spot where it is possible walking with the only company of your dogs and your thoughts.
The same image of White Strand has been the inspirational source of these three works, realised with different techniques: watercolour, pastel and oil. Different media but one outcome: the unique sensation of serene loneliness of an unspoilt place, quite primaeval in its placid serendipity.
