One day, at the beginning of the ages, having created Man, God said: “Now let’s make a creature who will be helpful to him, who will watch over his family and his goods, a living thing who will make Man happy when he feels sad, who will love him without asking for anything in return… A creature who is incapable of selfishness and disloyalty and doesn’t judge Man by his appearance, his strength or weakness - let’s create something nearly perfect, but with one limitation: his life won’t be as long as that of the human being he will choose to love.”
“Almighty Lord, Man has already given a name to all the creatures, as You commanded him," remarked the Archangel seated beside God "Which name will he give to this new living thing?”
“Someone will call them dogs," God said with a smile, "but someone else, looking deep in their eyes, will acknowledge the message from a secret world: then he will christen them with a unique and specific name, to seal an eternal covenant of mutual love and friendship.”
